Wilhelmina Barns-Graham

In collaboration with the Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust, we will be featuring works by the Scottish artist (1912 - 2004) in our group exhibition at Gallery 8, Duke Street, July 6th-12th.

A prominent member of the group of painters now known as the St. Ives School, her work evolved greatly over the span of eight decades, defined by her sense of adventure and exploration, incredible use of colour, and the experimentation of an artist who fluctuated between perceptual and abstract art.

One of Britain's most significant 20th century artists, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham has a planned retrospective at Tate St. Ives, opening in 2026.

Hampstead Art Society will also be organising a talk with Director of the Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Trust, Rob Airey, coinciding with the exhibition at the gallery in Duke Street (Details forthcoming).
